The Philadelphia Insectarium and Butterfly Pavilion is an Educational Partner at all Levels.

The Philadelphia Insectarium and Butterfly Pavilion (IBP) is a life-sciences museum located in Northeast Philadelphia.  From our humble beginnings as insect ambassadors, we have steadily grown into a multidisciplinary educational provider with a reputation for always going above and beyond to finish whatever wacky projects we start. We believe that education is an inalienable right for all people and are dedicated to showing students the power of creativity both in an out of the classroom.  By specializing in activities that connect classroom lessons to real-world experiences, IBP programs are uniquely capable of encouraging students to view academics as a means of preparing themselves for their future.  In addition, IBP enjoys incorporating exotic animals, giant science demonstrations, and investigative group activities whenever appropriate (and it’s always appropriate) to ensure students continue to associate “science” with “fun”.

IBP specializes in conducting adaptable lessons that incorporate the specific strengths and learning needs of each classroom we work in.  Our educators are masters of pivoting as they teach and are trained to take advantage of various off-topic learning opportunities that inevitably arise when they incorporate a giant chemistry demonstration or exotic animal into their lesson.  With a full spectrum of lessons and programs for each grade level, IBP curriculum is best known for using innovative, hands-on activities that provide students with a unique foundation for associative learning.  These lessons always treat the student as a co-investigator alongside our educator and this encourages students to start building the skills to answer their own questions right from the beginning of their academic career.
