This is not an ordinary NYE party.  No, no.  Not in the least.  Those who are admitted will spend an evening acquainted with magic in a most peculiar way.

WHEN YOU WALK IN:

You are now a lowly Commoner (but hopefully a well-dressed one). Think of a muggle from Harry Potter but as a Commoner, you may still learn to wield great power.  But for now, you are devoid of magic and likely…thirsty.  So go get a drink, the first one’s on us. 

As you move through the space, you will see various gaming tables set up for you to win tokens at.  You’ll need these tokens throughout the night. 

Play the games. Win the games.

THE GAMES:

You’ll recognize these games by sight, but I doubt you’ll be familiar with the rules.  Not to worry, we’ll teach you.  As you play, you’ll accumulate tokens (quite quickly if I had to guess).  Throughout the night, you will be allowed to play at the tables whenever you please.  And good thing too because you’ll need lots of tokens if you want any chance at buying your next rank from The Shopkeeper.

THE SHOPKEEPER:

Our dearest Shopkeeper (he goes by The Shopkeeper, or just Shopkeeper for short) is a man of particular tastes. In fact, he really only likes one thing; tokens.  Don’t try to give him money, it won’t work.  He only accepts tokens.  Now when you give him his beloved tokens, an amazing thing happens- he in return gives you the supplies to complete a magic trick (in accordance with your rank).

YOUR RANK:

You start as a Commoner but you won’t stay one for long.  As soon as you can get The Shopkeeper to give you the materials for your first trick, you’ll be able to master it and then level up to become an Apprentice. After Apprentice comes Novice. Then Master. Then Merlin.  At each level, you’ll be able to order a wider variety of drinks and enjoy other special privileges.  But of course, at each level you’ll need to master a new trick before you can progress.  Good thing professional magicians will also be roaming around doing amazing tricks and helping you.

PROFESSIONAL MAGICIANS:

There will be a myriad of professional magicians roaming throughout the space throughout the night.  It helps to see the tricks done by a well-practiced hand.  You’re encouraged to chat with them.  Also it’s just down-right inspiring to see a Merlin-ish human in action.  It’s kind of like when you see really amazing acrobatic performers in action. Did we mention there will be really amazing acrobatic performers?

ACROBATIC PERFOMERS:

Yep.  Check them out.  Just part of the night.

AT MIDNIGHT:

We’ll be doing it right with a giant liquid nitrogen explosion.
